Artist: Gasper Nali
Genre: Kwaito, Gospel
Artist Bio: Born in the Mzimba district in northwestern Malawi, Gasper began his musical career in 1998 by teaching himself the babaton, a self-made traditional Malawian instrument that features one string and is played with a hammer and a slide. In 2002, Gasper left Mzimba to pursue a career as a solo musician.

Now in Nkata Bay, he performs for live audiences at local venues. Gasper's lyrics (in Chichewa) explore the meaningful aspects of Malawian life, namely family, friends, home, religion, and dealing with issues such as poverty and HIV. Nali's unique sound is due in large part to his babaton, which he combines with a floor bass drum (also self-made) and a crisp, clear voice to produce a rich Kwaito/Gospel Blend.
