We have completed our book drives for the 2008 shipment! Books from California, Kentucky, Alabama, and Georgia have been sent to our distribution center in Hoover, Alabama, where they are currently being sorted and inventoried before being shipped to Namibia. We are happy to report that during our first year of operation, we were able to raise nearly 15,000 books to be shipped to Namibia. Thanks so much to all the volunteers that made our first year of operation such a success!

With the 2008 fundraising, planning, and book drives completed, we are now looking ahead to our 2009 programs. By strengthening partnerships with the Namibian Ministry of Education and several local Rotary Clubs, we look to expand our programs and offer supplies to even more schools across the country next year.

If you would like to assist us in this project, whether through fundraising, book-drives, or personal contributions, please contact us via email or phone at the address or number listed below. The phone number listed is a US registered phone number setup through Skype, so you can reach us in Namibia at no additional expense to you.

Our resources and book collection capabilities this year were limited. We asked for personal donations to be dropped off at our collection points in Hoover, AL, Huntsville, AL, and Paducah, KY. We hope to offer even more book collection points next year, but if you'd be willing to collect and store resources in your community, please contact us. For larger donations such as those from school book drives, in 2009 we will again arrange for pickup of these resources.

As you can imagine, shipping thousands of books overseas is expensive, and one of our main obstacles. We continue to pursue subsidized shipping rates and have currently reduced our total costs to less than $0.50 per book. Thus, if you are unable to donate books but you, your school, church or organization would like to contribute in another way, financial contributions would be more than helpful in putting the books in the hands of Namibian children. If you wish to donate money, please click here.

Finally, one of the most important things to consider when collecting books to send is whether or not the books will be useable. We appreciate your generosity and willingness to give in any measure, but please understand that many books are just not applicable or practical to send to a Namibian school. To ensure that there is not additional expense incurred from shipping unusable items, please make sure to pay close attention to the following guidelines for donating:
