Artist: The Dogg
Genre: Kwaito, Hip-Hop
Country: Namibia

Artist Bio: When one thinks of Namibian kwaito, one thinks The Dogg. Also known as the Kwaito Master and christened as Moroky, The Dogg has taken the Namibian music industry by storm with his ear-catching lyrics and body-moving beats. Born in Maheba, Zambia in 1983, he moved to Namibia as a small boy.
There, he began his formal education in East Ondangwa, a small town in northern Namibia. Being the youngest of four children, his aspiration as a child was to become a mechanical engineer, although music remained to be dormant passion at the time.

In 1997, he came to the capital city of Namibia and began his secondary schooling. After graduating from high school, he chose to study for a Marketing Degree at the University of Namibia. After his first year of tertiary education, The Dogg chose to leave university and pursue a career in music after realizing that his passion for music could not lie dormant any longer. Showing his distinctive characteristics of determination and decisiveness, he chose to use the money meant to pay his tuition to pay for his music productions.

He obtained his first sponsorship from a lady he refers to as “Ma” and when asked to describe their encounter he says, “She came up to me after one of my first performances in Oshakati and asked where she could buy my album. After explaining that I was still working on finances to release an album she chose to help me in my endeavor and I have come to believe that Ma is one of the few who saw my true potential from the start and always believed in me.”

In early 2003, The Dogg released his first album, Shimaliwa Osatana (meaning “Money is the Root of All Evil” in Oshivambo). The title of the album and the lyrics of his songs such as “Jesus Otati” demonstrated The Dogg's willingness to tackle undiscussed social and political issues with his music. After the success of his first album, in late 2003 he won the Sanlam music award as Namibian Artist of the Year for 2003. From that moment forward, The Dogg has championed the Namibian music industry. By the end of 2004, he had three more Namibian music performer awards to his name, including Best Kwaito Artist, Best Selling Artist, and once again, Artist of the Year 2004.

In early 2005 The Dogg strengthened his grip on his career by acquiring the services of the music management company, Kool Productions, and has never looked back. The Dogg, now also known as Teedee, released his third and latest album titled, Introducing TeeDee (2006), which has topped the Namibian music charts with songs such as “Baby Don’t Go”, “I Like It Like This”, “The Dogg Is Here To Stay” and “Inakusha”. After its release, Introducing TeeDee was rated as the number one top selling album for seven consecutive months in 2006.

In 2007, TeeDee toured France to give broadcast Namibian music to international audiences. To date, The Dogg has opened concerts for artists such as Mzekezeke, Malaika, Mafikizolo, Mandoza, Dr. Victor & The Rasta Rebels, Brown Dash, Brickz, Ishmael and others.

Additionally, his record label, “Mshasho”, has become the premier talent production company in Namibia, introducing the likes of artists such as Sunny Boy, Ompuff, and VDK. His most recent successs include the launch of the Mshasho clothing line in 2007, and plans to start a Namibian water bottling company in 2008.

One thing is certain, The Dogg has a bright and vibrant future ahead: “The Dogg Is Here To Stay”.
