Promote Africa, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports community development projects in Namibia by promoting African art, music and literature. Our field work is through a partnership with the Namibian Training Authority (NTA), with whom we support SME development and vocational training initiatives to reduce poverty in eight disadvantaged Namibian communities. We are building our relationship with the NTA and hope to offer international internships in the coming months.
Our work with the Namibian handicraft network is due in large part to the extensive organizational accomplishments of our Namibian partners over the past ten years. We have simply supplemented their efforts by providing the medium through which Namibian products can reach international markets. For our artisans, this site serves as a vehicle for economic opportunity by opening those international markets to foreign consumers of authentic African crafts.
Our forthcoming music compendium speaks to the hard work and dedication of our staff, who hopes to release the world's largest online directory of African music within the next twelve months. We're working with popular and unknown musicians across the continent to offer a global listening forum to promote African music.
Finally, we hope to promote cultural understanding and tap into the wealth of public consciousness regarding African development by providing a platform to distribute African literature. While our public bookstore is already open, we are currently working to expand our relationships to the realm of academia, where we are actively seeking the support of African Studies Departments across the globe.
While facilitating educational and economic development, we have created a non-profit, self-sustaining transaction mechanism for promoting African art, music and literature. We hope to serve as a resource for those interested in African culture, history, politics and development. Additionally, we hope that our efforts inspire a socially responsible community dedicated to our unique model for development. Learn more... |
